How to Protect your Teeth from Easter Sweets

Posted .

Easter is the second largest holiday for candy purchases in America, second only to Halloween. With sugary treats in abundance during the Easter season, we know it can be hard to resist, especially knowing how delicious candy can be! However, it is important to remember the negative effects that candy can have on your teeth if oral hygiene is neglected.

Sugary chocolates, taffies, and other candies (the stickier the candy, the greater the risk for potential damage) create an ideal environment for bacteria that causes plaque, producing a harmful acid that attacks your teeth. If left unattended to, this plaque can cause tooth decay, damage, and cavities.

We don’t expect you to give up candy all together, but we do want you to brush and floss as soon as possible after your indulgence. If you don’t have a toothbrush around, even a quick rinse with mouthwash can make a difference.
