Cavities Can Cause These Symptoms

Posted .

Cavities are one the most common issues for which Dr. Scott Ferguson gives treatment. In the majority of these cases, it was easy to tell that the patient had a cavity. There are some instances where it isn’t so clear. Because it can be difficult to tell sometimes whether or not you may have a cavity, we offer this small guide detailing common cavity symptoms and what to do if you notice them.

Aching Tooth

It’s important to seek out treatment for your tooth if it has been causing you pain for some time and you’ve also noticed it has a dull ache and sharp bouts of pain. Such symptoms are a sure sign you have a cavity. This type of cavity could be fairly new and may have developed if you haven’t had a dental cleaning in a significant amount of time. Your cavity could possibly be treated with a simple filling, but only if you come in quickly for an appointment!

Pain While Biting Down

If you’ve noticed a tooth has been giving you pain while you eat or chew, this could be an indication of a different type of cavity. In this instance, the cavity is fairly new and just beginning to form. Its best you schedule an appointment now before the cavity can worsen.
